Calypso is a 1975 popular song by John Denver.
Originally released as the B-side of "I'm Sorry" (which, itself, would become Denver's third and final #1 song), it started receiving airplay and ultimately became a #2 hit.
Most likely the popularity was due to the song's subject: it was a tribute to Jacques Cousteau (the RV Calypso was his research vessel). Denver and Cousteau were good friends, and Denver donated all the royalties for the song to Cousteau's organization.
