Bird's Opening
From Conservapedia
The Bird's Opening is the sixth most popular opening in the game of chess, which consists of White moving the pawn for the king's bishop forward by two spaces, as denote by "1.f4".
The five more popular openings are, in this order, 1.e4, 1.d4, 1.Nf3, 1.c4, and 1.g3. This Bird's Opening is far less popular than its mirror image, the English Opening (1.c4).
The Bird's Opening is rarely used in top games today as it seems to waste an opportunity to make a stronger first move. But several elegant games throughout chess history have been won with this unusual opening.
