The Big Ten is a college athletic conference which initially cancelled the football season in fall 2020 to the dismay of players and fans alike. The pretext for cancelling the season was the coronavirus pandemic, but many other schools and entire athletic conferences continued to hold their football seasons, as did the NFL.

After being embarrassed by how other leagues are playing football without difficulty, the Big Ten is reportedly going to reverse its ban and try to restart its season late, in October.[1]

Only public, taxpayer-funded universities are members of the Big Ten, which now includes more than 10 schools. They are:

East Division

  • Indiana University
  • University of Maryland
  • University of Michigan
  • Michigan State University
  • Ohio State University
  • Penn State
  • Rutgers

West Division

  • University of Illinois
  • University of Iowa
  • University of Minnesota
  • University of Nebraska
  • Northwestern University
  • Purdue University
  • University of Wisconsin
