Benzie County, Michigan is a county located in the northwestern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 17,970, making it one of Michigan's smaller counties by population. The county seat is Beulah, while the largest community is the village of Benzie. History

Benzie County was established in 1863 and organized in 1869. The name "Benzie" is derived from the French "Rivière Aux-Bec-Scies," meaning "River of Sawbills," a type of waterfowl. Early settlers were primarily involved in logging and agriculture, taking advantage of the region's abundant natural resources.
