Barry County, Michigan is a county located in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the county's population was 62,423. The county seat is Hastings, which is also the largest city in the county. History

Barry County was established in 1829 and organized in 1839. The county was named in honor of William T. Barry, a U.S. Postmaster General under President Andrew Jackson. Early settlers were primarily of European descent, drawn to the area for its fertile soil and abundant natural resources.
