Ballad of a Teenage Queen is a popular song by Johnny Cash.

The song, told from the standpoint of a town resident, speaks of a beautiful and talented teenage girl, who was desired by everyone, but loved only one boy: a "boy next door/who worked in the candy store". Just before he plans to propose, she is convinced by a movie scout that she could be successful in Hollywood, so she moves there to become an actress.

She is successful in becoming rich and famous, but misses her hometown and the boy, so she gives up her fame and fortune to return and reunite with him.
