Aphraates was a 4th century Church Father.[1] His Homilies, written between 337 and 345, emphasized the value of ascetic life.[1] He taught that God created the universe, gave the law to Moses, and the Jesus is the Son of God and that at baptism a believer receives the Holy Spirit.[1] He was part of the Syrian Church.[1]
