The '''White Army ''' was an army raised in Western [[Russia]] to oppose [[Vladimir Ilyich Lenin|Lenin's]] [[Red Guards]] and other external groups also arose in to fight the Red Guards including the [[anarchismAnarchism|anarchist]] Black Army under [[Black Nestor Makhno]]. The White Armywas composed of conscripts and volunteers. At first successful, they ultimately lost to the Red Army. The colour [[White]]is a symbol of the Russian-[[Orthodox|Orthodox]] church.
