Hello Ed Poor, I hope this message finds you doing well. I was wondering if you could upload this image for use in the article I recently created. I look forward to hearing your response. Thanks, AnupamTalk 03:32, 7 March 2011 (EST)
BLOCK THIS GUY!!!!!!!!
SamHB (talk) 16:37, 27 June 2017 (EDT)

:Done, but you've been around long enough. Why don't you ask Andy for blocking rights? --Ed Poor Talk 16:39, 27 June 2017 (EDT)

::I'm confident he would use block right appropriately, but Andy might be hesitant to give the privilege to Sam. Sam has been in a number of disputes, and has been banned a few times as well. I'd support Sam getting the privilege, (I'd say he's more than earned it since I've been here alone, nevermind all the time before that) but I don't know if it could happen. Besides, aren't privileges generally given, not requested? --<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font> (TALK) 21:09, 27 June 2017 (EDT)

:::David, you have hit the nail right on the head. Blocking rights are given, not requested. And my long career here is full of blocks (19 of them), including blocks by people who were later revealed to be vandals or parodists: DanielPulido and the notorious Markman. And illicit blocks by "assistants" over content disputes. (I seem to have a knack for upsetting bullies.) And several blocks by my friend Conservative; we get along much better now. And two by Ed Poor himself; I think we get along much better now; I won't bore you with the details. When you've been around as long as I have, you develop a history.

:::I have no interest in getting any special powers. I like to think of myself as a "conscientious objector" in these wars. People know that if they wrongly block me, I can't and won't fight back. But others will (hopefully) undo the damage. I think a lot of people respect me.

:::But when big vandal attacks come along, and I can't get anyone else to take action, that's when I wish I had block powers.

:::Thanks to both of you for your kind words. SamHB (talk) 18:43, 28 June 2017 (EDT)

::::SamHB, you brought those blocks (none of which were "illicit" like you claim) down on yourself for the exact reasons DavidB4 pointed out, as well as for repeatedly and insistently putting liberal POV into some articles (including even now, with the fake news article two days ago) and for provoking fights (also including now). If you didn't insist on trying to turn Conservapedia into Liberalpedia, you wouldn't get chastized by the admins as much as you do. :::::It's true that I've had a hair-trigger for blocks, but you might not know that I often agonize over these and consult Andy by private email afterwards. It's not easy to admit that I've overstepped, but my record shows that I have SOMETIMES unblocked someone after a few moments (or days?) of reflection. --Ed Poor Talk 10:31, 29 June 2017 (EDT)

Unrelated to what's above, Ed Poor, I see that several of your recent blocks have been indefinite. I used to do this a lot, but I no longer do because it can cause many innocent people to lose access to CP. Oftentimes, IP addresses get shifted around, so different, unrelated people end up using the same address at different times. That means that one indefinite block could affect many people over time. Also, vandals don't tend to be the type of people in a perminent location, so it is unlikely they will be using the same IP address after some time even if the address is the same in the same location. I recommend five-year blocks instead with even shorter blocks necessary for less serious vandalism. DavidB4 explained it better on my talk page. Thanks! --1990&#39;sguy (talk) 10:40, 29 June 2017 (EDT)

Is Waters of the United States rule and Clean Water Rule the same thing? If so, they should be merged. --1990&#39;sguy (talk) 13:48, 1 July 2017 (EDT)

:The articles should be merged, although the two rules are slightly different. Can you do it? --Ed Poor Talk 19:38, 2 July 2017 (EDT)

::There are many rules implementing the Clean Water Act. Shouldn't you just have one comprehensive article about the Clean Water Act? Also, we should have a separate article about the definition of "Navigatable Waters of the United States", because this term defines federal jurisdiction in contexts beyond just the Clean Water Act. It also defines the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers and the old Federal Power Commission (now Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) with respect to the licensing of hydroelectric projects. JDano (talk) 04:54, 3 July 2017 (EDT)

:::I have no objection, as long as readers will be able to understand what each of those hot-button phrases means, politically:
:::*Navigable waters of the United States has nothing to do with navigation or shipping. It's merely a compromise between polluters and farmers on the one hand, and clean-water freaks or preservationists on the other.
:::*Similarly, the Clean Water Rule is not mostly about clean drinking water for people, but it also restricts legitimate (farm) use and delights the no-use environmental lobby
:::*The WOTUS rule is a variation on the Clean Water Rule that isn't so tough on farmers filling in a swamp (see Wetlands) to get more crop land.

:::If you two can make one article out of all this mess, go for it! --Ed Poor Talk 12:09, 3 July 2017 (EDT)
