tax (tăks) n;

Def-A required payment of money or goods to a government.

1. In a free society, the taxes are used as the people see fit to promote and pay for their agenda for their country. In a non-free state the taxes are used as the dictator chooses. Either way the force to make people pay taxes is from the root of all political power, physical violence. The people collectively give that right to a government in a democracy. In a dictatorship/Kingdom it is imposed on the people.
