Osama Bin Laden actually appears (uncredited) as a tribal leader in the American blockbuster Rambo III [1]. This is a well-known statement, based on the presence of Rambo III filming in Afghanistan, Bin Laden's then friendliness with US interests, and the presence of a lot of extras. I think this should be included. [2]

How is Bin Laden responsible for the 9/11/01 attack if he is not wanted for it?

Bin Laden has not been found guilty for the 9/11/01 attack, although he has been found guilty for other crimes. How about mentioning those (at least first) before mentioning something of which he hasn't even been convicted?

Taliban "emerging" out of mujaheddin

The Taliban most assuredly did not "emerge from" the mujaheddin, despite what the cited source, commondreams.org (which bills itself as "breaking news and views for the progressive [read liberal] community"), says. Even [CNN http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/9610/05/taleban/] can get it right—the Taliban arose in opposition to the muj. At most, some of the muj may have defected to the Taliban. The idea that US aid to the muj "in the 80s" (to use commondreams.org's phrase) led to 9/11 is simply a liberal myth. Traditional Conservative 23:53, 9 September 2007 (EDT)

This is vague at best. Mujahideen simply refers to anyone who is engaged in jihad, which bin Laden claims all of his men are. TaKess 16:15, 12 May 2009 (EDT)

Contradiction

This article both claims (incorrectly) that Clinton took no action against Bin Laden and also (correctly) claims that Bin Laden was targeted in a cruise missile strike. Both cannot be true.--Mrvipond 10:39, 14 December 2007 (EST)

The cruise missile attack was an attempt by Clinton to distract people from the Lewinsky scandal. It wasn't until after the Sept 11 attacks that Clinton started claiming Bin Laden had been the target. Before then the justification was a series of vague references to "insurgents." The article should either drop the reference to the cruise missile attacks or clarify their relevance. I vote for clarifying, because if the mention is dropped critics will claim we're censoring data. --AlexC

Death

Is it not worth also mentioning that there is a widespread belief that he is now dead. The broadcasts he supposedly made last year (the first for 3 years) were widely believed to be obvious fakes.

Should we change the date of death to allegedly to show that there has been no definitive proof to-date? I wouldn't be all too surprised if Obama jumped the gun and said they killed Osama to increase his ratings before actually checking if it was indeed Osama, I mean they released the information only hours afterwards, not enough time for a proper confirmation. "Few" Truthers?

I notice the first footnote says that there only a 'few' 9/11 truthers... This would seem to go against the scope and ever growing prominence (especially in reference to coverage by mainstream media) of this 9/11 truth movement. It is refreshing, though, that this article isn't ubiquitous in it's statement but rather says that Bin Laden is "widely believed" to hold responsibility. BrentonEccles
