Social-emotional learning
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a controversial form of teaching that incorporates CRT concepts and prioritizes a race-based education rather than traditional methods that benefit pupils.[1][2][3] The American Federation of Teachers refers to SEL as Transformative Social Emotional Learning.[4] SEL or TSEL is a foundation for teaching certain concepts of equity, deconstructive concepts, and activist training.
Penn State University describes SEL as: "increased awareness of systems that perpetuate unconscious bias, ableism, and White supremacy comes the opportunity to dismantle, rebuild, and restore our collective humanity and commitments to each other." and says that "Those who benefit from systemic oppression need to take responsibility for and commit to its dismantling."[5]
