Mickey Mouse is the mascot and main character of the Walt Disney Corporation.
Mickey Mouse originated in 1928 in "Steamboat Willie", which debuted on Nov. 18, 1928, as the first animated cartoon with talking characters.
On January 1, 2024, Disney's copyright on the original Mickey Mouse is set to expire, if Disney does not lobby for and obtain another 20-year extension as it did in 1998 under the guise of the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act.[1]
