Hillsdale College is a highly ranked small, private liberal arts college in Hillsdale, Michigan founded in 1844. It is conservative in philosophy and it publishes a widely read Imprimis newsletter.

Hillsdale College is one of only two major colleges that has remained completely outside of federal regulations by declining federal funding and federally guaranteed student loans. This gives Hillsdale College the advantage of being able to decide what is best for its programs and students without worrying about complying with non-Christian and non-conservative rules imposed by the federal government. The other major college that is outside of federal regulations is Grove City College.

In comparing the two colleges, Hillsdale College tends to have more of an economic and libertarian emphasis than Grove City College, which tends to be more Christian in nature.
