Genghis Khan was the founder of [[Mongol Empire]]. He lived from AD 1162 to 1227. Genghis dreamed of ruling the largest empire in the world, and when he united the [[Mongol]] tribes, he did exactly that. His powerful army was based on [[meritocracy]]. Historians consider Genghis Khan a military genius. He conquered the largest empire in the history of the world.
A surprisingly tolerant leader, he did not influence religious practice by his subjects. All he demanded was total obedience in temporal matters. Those who did not obey faced stiff penalties, often execution.
