Gary Eugene "Gene" Taylor (born September 17, 1953 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a Democratic former U.S. Representative for Mississippi's 4th congressional district, having been first elected in a 1989 special election. He was for a time the senior member of the Armed Services Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He was unseated in the 2010 general election by a Republican Steven Palazzo.

Taylor has a reputation as one of the most conservative Democrats in the House with a populist image, and has been critical of both political parties. He is culturally conservative, consistently voting against abortion and gun control. Taylor loudly opposes outsourcing, voted against the 1991 Persian Gulf War, however voted for the 2002 invasion of Iraq.

Taylor voted against the $700 billion bailout for Wall Street; "if there was a button that said 'hell no', I'd push it." He voted against President Obama's $787 billion economic stimulus package, and was the first Democrat to sign a petition to repeal his party's health care overhaul legislation.
