Although he knew the secret of Fredegar was a [[The One RingHobbit]], he did not go with Frodo, from the [[SamShire (Middle-earth)|Shire]], [[Merry]] and [[Pippin]] friend to [[RivendellFrodo Baggins]].
He was born in [[Third Age (Middle-earth)|T.A.]] 2980 to Odovacar Bolger and Rosamunda Took, and had a younger sister Estella Bolger, who later married his friend [[Meriadoc Brandybuck]]. He was one in the small group knowing about the [[One Ring (Middle-earth)|One Ring]] and Frodo's departure for [[Rivendell]]. When the other hobbits left the Shire, Fredegar stayed behind in Crickhollow to prevent the knownledge of Frodo's departure spreading for as long as possible. During [[Saruman]]'s rule of the Shire, Fredegar led a small resistance group fighting against the Ruffians.
