The Eric Trump Foundation is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Paige Scardigli is Executive Director. Following the election of [[Donald J. Trump]] as President, the Foundation had to cancel several fundraisers because they could create the impress of selling access to the members of the first family.<ref>{{cite news|url=httphttps://www.npr.org/2016/12/22/506598437/facing-criticism-eric-trump-will-stop-actively-fundraising|title=Facing Criticism, Eric Trump Will Stop Actively Fundraising For His Foundation|first=Scott|last=Detrow|work=National Public Radio|date=December 22, 2016|accessdate=December 23, 2016}}</ref> However, the foundation continues to raise money for St. Judes and held a golf tournament at the Trump National golf course outside of Washington DC with Eric Trump in attendance in May 2017.<ref name=forbes/>
While the foundation started with six personal friends of Eric Trump serving with him on its Board, control of the foundation has shifted to the point that a majority of the Board are connected to the Trump Organization. Since the start of the foundation and its golf tournaments, Eric Trump has claimed that the foundation has a low overhead because the Trump Organization does not bill it for using their facilities and golf courses. However, since 2011, the Trump Organization has billed the foundation for the golf outings.<ref name=forbes/>
