The perpetrator posted a [[progressive]] manifesto to 8chn entitled ''An Inconvenient Truth'', explaining his reasons. The manifesto opens by paying homage to the [[New Zealand mosque shooting|New Zealand mosque shooter]] who described himself as a "green nationalist" and "eco-fascist." The perpetrator makes clear he opposes [[economic growth]] and favors a "sustainable," or rationed allocation of resources. The main theme is futuristic automation. The manifesto is an anti-corporate screed that praises automation for reducing the need for immigrant labor and hope for of a universal basic income. Immigrants, both legal and illegal, he accuses of competing for a UBI while driving up college costs and hampering passage of universal healthcare. He accuses immigrants of driving up college costs and adding to the already burdensome problem of re-cycling plastics and as well as paper products which is causing deforestation. None of these positions can be described as "[[right wing]]". Nowhere does he use the terms "illegal immigrant" or "illegal immigration. "
