Democracy in Iran is a contentious issue. In 2009, the Iranian Presidential Election ended with a two-thirds majority for incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, his main opponent Mir-Hossein Mousavi, and his supporters, have alleged wide election fraud, voter suppression, and censorship.
