/* A Former Christian's Opinion */
I was Christian for a long time. However, when examining the bible closely, and comparing it with evidence, I have seen too much to claim that I am a christian any longer. When I realized the truth, I was freed from my shackles of belief. My entire morality changed -- I had morality before, but the values I had then were not grounded in anything except a magykal man in the sky ready to smite me if i disobeyed. the morality I found through logic moved me to become a better person, a better husband, and a better father. It is possible to claim that God does exist, as human knowledge does not encompass all, not even close. But, with the scope of what we can personally verify, the arguments and claims set forth by christians have been largely proven false
I was also a christian for a very long time as well and I was on the road to becoming a preacher (my life long dream). I have found through close examinations of other religions that they all cover issues with blanket statements that are supposed to cover everything. This in theory sounds good, that is why religion has so many followers. There are many situations in which one finds himself in a grey area that the blanket statement to not lie or to not kill is really not seen as the best idea. It is much better to rationally think things through and to find the truth of what is best to do in your own eyes. If good things happen because God made them then why on earth is there evil? This makes your "almighty" God seem pretty weak or dumb that he can't control bad things. If you say that God is not in control of good or bad then what is the point of God at all. Religion is just a code of ethics made up by a group of people so yes, it is quite obvious that we can find morality without God.--[[User:Jclarkfree|Jclarkfree]] 23:45, 8 May 2012 (EDT)
