Peace agreement between Egypt and Israel signed in 1979, leading to the first recognition of Israel by an Arab state. U.S. President Jimmy Carter brokered the deal between Isreali prime minister Menachem Begin, and Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, who both won the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their achievment.
