A martial combat between two mounted knights during the 14th-16th centuries, for practice, show of skill and public entertainment. The knights ride at each other and try to knock their opponent off his steed with a lance.
Joust may also refer to a video game where knights mounted atop flying ostriches attempt to dismount each other.
