Epic Theatre is a theatrical style that developed in the early 20th century, primarily attributed to the work of Bertolt Brecht and the Berliner Ensemble. With a political basis in Communism, it attempts to reconcile the differences between entertainment and education to create a politically informing performance. This is through a process of Verfremdung (disassociation) of the audience.
