Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796 – 1875) was a French Realist painter. He is considered the first great French landscape painter. Corot was member of the Barbizon School of France.
Corot follow the advise of his teacher Achille-Etna Michallon "to reproduce as scrupulously as possible what I saw in front of me".
Through he represented nature realistically, he did not idealize the peasant or the labors of agriculture in the manner of Millet and Gustave Courbet, and was uninvolved in ideological controversy. [1]
