Associate Professor

Associate professor is a permanent teaching position at a university that is typically held by someone who is below the academic standards required of a full professor, but who is willing to teach the time-consuming entry-level courses.
Often the most liberal teachers -- and the biggest promoters of the theory of evolution -- are merely associate professors deemed unqualified to be full professors.
Most explanations of the status of "associate professor" conceal its inferior status.
