Craigslist is a website with region specific discussion forums and community bulletin boards with classified ads. Despite its relatively short existence, it has become extremely popular as an alternative medium for advertising. 50 million advertisements for goods, services, and properties, among other things are posted every month. Most of these ads are free, with revenue derived from job postings and real estate in selected cities. The liberal media is generally biased against Craigslist because it offers a free alternative to newspaper's classified ads. Incidents of abuse on the site often make the headlines whereas the press rarely reports anything positive about the site.

Craig Newmark started Craigslist in 1995.
