The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine is a non-profit research institute that studies biochemistry, diagnostic medicine, nutrition, preventive medicine and the molecular biology of aging. The institute is founded and headed by Art Robinson, a noted conservative Christian scientist. The institute is funded by donations and grants from private charities. There are only six faculty members. Most work is done by volunteers. The Oregon Petition is one of many works done by the institute.
