The Molly Maguires were an Irish network of mine workers in Pennsylvania around 1870 who fought against the ravages of perceived abuses in certain company's practices.

The Molly Maguires included murderers and was a lawless gang that needed to be broken up. To the Liberals, who supported their action without second thought, the Molly Maguires were all that the Irish immigrants, who had fled the Irish Potato Famine in Ireland, had to survive.

The powerful railroad and mining corporates infiltrated the Molly Maguires and brought irrefutable allegations that caused many to be executed.
