Hammurabi was the King of Babylon from 1792 to 1750 B.C. He is best known for promulgating a set of criminal laws known as the Code of Hammurabi. It was a legal code based on "an eye for an eye" form of justice and had similarities to the later Mosaic code of the Bible.
