The M1 Carbine was another successful rifle design of the Second World War. It utilized a semi-automatic function much like the M1 Garand in that the soldier could maintain a decent rate of fire by how fast the trigger was depressed. The M1 Carbine was lightweight and was usually assigned to paratroopers and tank teams because of the size and folding buttstock. The M1 Carbine could be armed with a 15 or 30 round ammunition clip.
