The Bible, or the Holy Scriptures, is the collection of texts sacred to Judaism and Christianity, which, in the manner of the Greek Philosopher Plato (and like the sacred scriptures of every religion), tell a series of myths and stories, some based on historic events, such as the life of Jesus, others purely mythical, to convey to the reader the moral values of the Christian and Jewish religions. Many people mistakenly interpret the Bible literally, and accept scientific views such as Creationism or the "Young Earth" theory, which have been scientifically disproved, or at the very least, are illogical, when compared to other theories. The literal interpretation of the Bible is what caused the Science vs. Religion controversy, and due to the closed-mindedness of people (whichever side they take, science or religion), this problem has not yet been solved.
The Bible is not a book of science, it does not explain how the Universe works. Science, not religion, does that.
Some of the moral values present in The Bible must also be interpreted with an open mind, for they are around 2000 (or more, in the case of the Old Testament) years old, and therefore certain concepts are no longer entirely compatible with modern society. Despite this, the main message in this book, that of Love, is obviously as valid now as it was back then.
Does this make the writer of this vandalism a soulless, Satan worshiping, liberal, communist, Evil, God-hating, baby-killing, racist, un-Christian spawn of something very bad? This vandal even wonders whether anyone will read this article up to this point before deleting it and banning him.
