Peanut butter is a type of butter made from peanuts. It was invented in 1878. Today, it is often used in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Peanut butter can also be a staple in the diet of some domesticated animals. Peanut butter comes in different forms including chunky and smooth peanut butter. Peanut butter is typically made with peanuts and vegetable oil - despite the name, it is not a dairy product.
George Washington Carver did not invent it but he promoted it.
