The Prince of Egypt is a 1998 animated film released by Dreamworks Animation. The movie portrays the life of Moses, from his boyhood to when he led Israel out of Egypt. The film is a musical, and its soundtrack has been widely praised. The film stars Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Inaccuracies Between the Movie and the Biblical Account

The movie, in the beginning, notes that it took poetic license from the Exodus account. Examples of that are shown here:

  • The movie portrays the Pharaoh of the Exodus as Rameses, however, it is widely believed that that particular Pharaoh was Amenhotep II.[1]
  • The movie portrays Moses and Zipporrah's relationship as beginning far before Moses fleeing to Midian. This is not portrayed in the Bible.
