The Congo is the second-longest river in Africa (after the Nile), at 2,900 miles (4,667km) in length. It rises in Zambia (here named the Chambeshi), flowing across the Democratic Republic of Congo. For some distance it forms the boundary between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo before re-entering the DRC; it then forms the boundary between the DRC and Angola befre entering the Atlantic Ocena. The Congo has the second-largest outflow of water of any river in the world and has the second largest drainage basin (in both cases the Amazon is numer one).
