A Priest is a Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox clergyman ranking above deacon but below bishop. The Anglican Church also uses the term which they kept even after breaking away as a new church under Henry VIII.[1]

It corresponds to a presbyter in the early church. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. (1 Timothy 4:14)

Priests preside at Mass and at the Sacraments of Baptism, Matrimony, Reconciliation, and Healing. From the early 4th Century A.D. a discipline of celibacy has been in place for Roman Catholic priests. In recent times the Church is finding it difficult to replace aging priests.

The preacher's wife was making Sunday dinner, when the preacher walked in the house and says "that ham smells wonderful." His wife replies "That's a Dam-Ham." The preacher was surprised by his wife's use of profanity. She showed him the wrapper and explained that was the brand name of the ham. They sat down for dinner and the preacher says to his son, "Son, pass me the dam-ham." and his son replies, "that's the spirit, Pop, now pass me the fucking potatoes"
