It is not known for certain who America's first Black President was.[1]

It could be Thomas Jefferson (1801-1809), described as the "son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father." In fact, five earlier presidents may have had black ancestry. [1]

Barack Hussein Obama, slated to be inaugurated on January 20, 2009, calls himself black. Some have said he will be the first Black President, but they do not take into account presidents with black ancestry who do not appear black.[1] He is, however, the first man who is black skined to be elected president.[Citation Needed] He is also the first Affirmative Action President.
