Robert II(1371-1390) (also known as Robert the Steward) was the first Stewart king of Scotland. He was French in descent, but had little or no ties to the country. Robert II spent the first 18 years of his reign as a prisoner in England. Robert made little or no changes to Scottish politics or law. He died in 1390.
