Burr conspiracy

The Burr conspiracy was an expedition of Aaron Burr, the infamous Vice-president under [[Thomas Jefferson]. His goal was ultimately to separate the western states from the Atlantic states. General James Wilkinson, had a personal interest in this military expedition in the West. He secretly turned on Burr, however, after Burr sent him a coded letter outlining his plans. In the coded letter, Burr explained that he had garnered support from some old cronies and had made a hideaway on Blennerhassett Island.
