Affirmative Action President

An Affirmative Action Vice President is someone selected for that office based partly or entirely on the person's race or gender. As of 2008, affirmative action has not yet been successfully used to fill the position of Vice President of the United States.

An Affirmative Action Vice President is strongly supported by some liberals who favor affirmative action. As they support affirmative action for other positions, it is a logical extension for them to favor it for the presidency also.

These supporters of an Affirmative Action Vice President are likely to support a candidate based in part on the candidate's race or gender in order to bring historical diversity to the position and promote broader acceptance of affirmative action.

Under affirmative action, a candidate's race or gender is as important as, and perhaps more important, than traditional criteria of qualifications and experience.
