Star Wars is a science fiction film saga created by American director George Lucas. The movies that were made earlier (Episodes 4, 5, and 6) are renowned as classics of cinema, and were some of the first "summer blockbusters" ever made. The latter films (Episodes 1, 2, and 3) were not as well received by fans.
