Credential bullying is an attempt to intimidate or censor someone by citing one's real or inflated credentials.

This is an example of an argument from authority where the person claiming the credential is setting themselves up as the authority. They make the unfounded assumption that just because someone has studied a subject that they are more qualified to discuss it than an average person.

It is not allowed on Conservapedia, but became a scandal on Wikipedia when the credentials were not even true.
