Jury instructions

Jury instructions are a judge's explanation to the jury before it begins deliberations of the question it must answer and the applicable law governing the case. (It is also referred to as a charge.)

Explained differently, jury instructions are a judge's directions to the jury before it begins deliberations regarding the factual questions it must answer and the legal rules that it must apply.
