Rock music is a style of music that is characterised by a prominent drum beat and a relatively uncomplicated harmonic structure.
Elvis Presley was an early pioneer of Rock, as were the Beatles, who, rather daringly for the time, pioneered the use of recreational drugs (in Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds) , reverse tape loops (in Tomorrow Never Knows), holding hands (in I Wanna Hold Your Hand) and somersaults (in Being For The Benefit of Mister Kite).
The 1968 Altamont Festival, where some people died because of the Rolling Stones, is considered proof of the dangers of Rock.
In the 1980s, rock was replaced by drum machines.
