Cavern

A cavern is a large cave. From this we get the adjective cavernous meaning a large enclosed space.
The Cavern Club, was a basement music club in Liverpool where many pop-groups of the "Merseybeat"-era (early 1960s) first performed before going on to achieve interational success. The most noitable of these was The Beatles.
