Nathanael Greene, Jr. (1742-1786) was an American general during the American Revolutionary War. He was a native of the state of Rhode Island.[1] Although having no prior military experience, Greene proved himself to be George Washington's most capable general, serving as the Quartermaster General and leading a successful southern campaign where more seasoned generals, such as Horatio Gates and Benjamin Lincoln, had failed.
