Medieval religion

Medieval Religion describes the different faiths that were incorporated into the Medieval era. Roman Catholicism was the overwhelmingly predominant faith of most of Medieval Europe and a source of comfort for people who were often forced to live their lives under harsh and difficult conditions. It is relevant to note, that the vast majority of Roman Catholics were illiterate and therefore recognised their religion through the medium of Catholic clergy, and it is this ignorance of the Bible that seperates Catholics and Protestants to the present day.
