Chrysler
The Chrysler Group is an automobile manufacturer, based in Detroit, Michigan. The group was founded in June 1925 by Walter Chrysler but is now privately owned by DaimlerChrysler, after the merger of Chrysler and DaimlerBenz, a German automobile manufacturer. Recently a large portion of the company was sold to Cerberus Captial Management, a private equity firm. Major Brands of the Chrysler Group are Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep although a financial arm of the company also provides a large source of income to the company.
Typically the smallest automobile manufacturer of the "Big Three", General Motors, Ford, Chrysler has had finacial difficulty before which included a bail out from the US Government in 1979, led by the then CEO of Chrysler, Lee Iacocca. It has ensured that Chrysler created some of the more innovative vehicles, including the Minivan, and the high powered Dodge Viper.
