The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant explains the need to forgive others, as God forgives our sins in far greater measure. This parable is set forth in Matthew 18:21–35 while explainiong God's infinite mercy.

This echoes the theme at the Book of Sirach 27:30—28:7, which is part of the Apocrypha.
