The Bab el-Mandeb Strait (Arabic for "Gate of Tears") is a highly strategic, narrow waterway located between the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It serves as the southern gateway to the Red Sea, connecting it directly to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
